About

Hayley is a Vancouver-based writer and director originally from Ontario. Since attending Vancouver Film School, Hayley has built up a reputation for collaborating with underrepresented communities. Hayley started her career as a production manager and producer and has written and directed scripted, documentary and music videos. Hayley’s work has won awards at festivals around the world, and aired on Telus Optik, CBC and Air Canada. Her feature and television scripts have received accolades from The National Screen Institute, The Austin Film Festival, The Canadian Film Festival and Bell Media.

Hayley’s Leo Award-nominated documentary, Hayashi Studio is available on Telus Optik VOD and Air Canada. In 2020 she completed production on her feature documentary, Unarchived with the NFB. She was a finalist for the WIDC Short Works Award for her short film Send the Rain, a proof of concept for her feature film Dry Year which she is developing with Vancouver-based production company, Film Boldly.  Send the Rain begins its festival tour in 2021.

Hayley is an alumna of WIDC’s Story & Leadership Program, Career Advancement Module, and in 2020 she received the WIDC Talent to Watch Mentorship Award for Dry Year.
