Presented in collaboration with the St John’s International Women’s Film Festival [Interactive] Incubator Project (IIP)

October 2014 – As part of its ongoing collaboration with the St John’s International Women’s Film Festival, the WIDC Career Advancement Module (CAM) is supporting a new program launched by the festival called the [Interactive] Incubator Project (IIP). Five Newfoundland and Atlantic filmmakers and their interactive projects were selected.

Among the cohort are Latonia Hartery (NL) with her project called Out in the Cold: The Story of Newfoundland’s Sealskin Boots, Jenna McMillan (PEI) for her project Gran Bandit, Annie McEwen (NL) for The Girls of Sheshatshiu, Christine McLean (NB) with The Wild, Wild East, and Heather Rumancik (NL) with Little Theatre/Big Ideas.

The CAM is led by Women in the Director’s Chair co-creator and producer, Carol Whiteman who is a two-time Governor General’s Award-nominee and an award-winner for promoting women’s equality in Canada’s screen-based media industry.  Following a locally catered networking dinner with the cohort at NIFCO, Whiteman will co-present an interactive Reading the Room: Taking Meetings and Pitching masterclass with veteran actor and filmmaker, Garwin Sanford (The Birdwatcher, Hard Time: The David Milgard Story).  The six-hour workshop will culminate in a pitch practicum for the five filmmakers to prepare them for subsequent meetings curated by the [Interactive] Incubator Project (IIP).
