About

Marzia Kamyabi is an Saskachewan-based filmmaker and producer based in Regina. She has a background in mime and physical theatre and a strong passion for storytelling, particularly about unconventional characters who embrace their differences and challenge societal norms. Originally from Iran, Marzia studied her Masters in Literature and pursued theatre there, which laid the foundation for her creative journey. Seeking to explore a more diverse medium, she moved to Canada to expand her horizons and gain hands-on experience in filmmaking. She pursued formal education in film production and scriptwriting, further developing her storytelling skills while producing content for CBC Creator Network. Drawing inspiration from her grandparents, who designed Persian carpets with intricate visual stories, Marzia enjoys creating films that carry positive and inspiring messages, especially for younger audiences. She believes in the power of film to influence minds and foster inclusivity. Marzia also combines her love for storytelling with her passion for technology, often using drones to capture stunning aerial visuals of Saskatchewan’s diverse landscapes. In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Marzia remains deeply involved in her community. She volunteers with educational and healthcare organizations, learning from local struggles and triumphs, which further shape her understanding of people and enhance the stories she tells on screen.
